The Last of the Polar Bears by LCibos
I'm excited to announce the new graphic novel I'm working on with Lindsay Cibos! It's called The Last of the Polar Bears. It's one part fable, one part coming-of-age adventure epic. The story takes place in the near future, told through the perspective of a mother polar bear and her two cubs as they  struggle to survive in a rapidly changing world.

Work on this project started back in March 2009, almost immediately after we finished up Draw Furries. It's only now (almost a year later) that we are at the point where we can share our story with the public. While the developmental work is finished, the long grueling task of drawing the comic is just beginning.

Around the first of the year, Lindsay started roughing out the first chapter of the tale. And although the finished book is still a long way off, we want to start getting the word out about this new story. As part of our efforts, we put together a promotional postcard featuring Lindsay's art of the polar bear family. We're offering the card from our website. Here's the link! (www.jaredandlindsay.com/polarbear.html,) Just enter an address on the form and hit the send button to received the card in the mail. I have a stack of 500 of these postcards and I want to give every one of them out to people, so please participate!

On a different furry topic, I'd like to extend my thanks to those who picked up a copy of Draw Furries - How to Create Anthropomorphic and Fantasy Animals, and a double-thanks to the people who left a comment about the book on Amazon. You guys are great! Every positive review helps improve the chance that people who can benefit from the content will check it out. It also improves the chance that the publisher will contact me about a sequel (something I'd love to work on). :)

If you're interested in drawing, furries, or drawing furries, please give the book a flip through next time you're down at the bookstore. If you bought a copy and it's helped you improve as an artist, then please drop a comment on Amazon and others know how the book has helped you. :)

Second, I'm proud to announce that Draw Furries - How to Create Anthropomorphic and Fantasy Animals, written and illustrated by me and Lindsay Cibos is out and in stores everywhere! So stop by your local book retailer and pick up a copy, order a signed copy from me, or pick it up at Amazon. Lindsay and I put a ton of work and research into this book, and filled each page with as much helpful information and as many illustrations as possible. Please help us make this book a success! I'd love to follow this one up with a sequel. :)

And if you already have a copy of the book and you're getting some use out of it, PLEASE do me a favor and post a quick review on Amazon. Authors live and die by those star ratings and the accompanying blurbs of text.

I'm not sure if you know this, but along with all the tutorial books, comics, and art, I also spent about 3 years working on a graphic novel series called Peach Fuzz with my partner :iconlcibos: Lindsay Cibos.

Recently, our publisher sent us several copies of the Portuguese language of Peach Fuzz Volume 1. It's a beautiful version of the book and faithfully reproduces the original content of the English version (in Portuguese, of course). It even comes wrapped in a handsome dust jacket. Well, I happen to have 5 extra copies, so I thought it would be fun to hold a contest to give them away!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

1 of the 5 contest winners will ALSO receive an advance sneak peek into the graphic novel Lindsay and I are currently developing. This reveal comes in the form of a LIMITED-EDITION SIGNED POSTER featuring characters from the new story. Yes, one lucky individual will be the very first to find out about our exciting new project! :)

Interested? Check my website www.jaredandlindsay.com for details on how to enter!

Things certainly have been quite over here. That's what happens when I'm hard at work on a project. I put on a pair of blinders and focus straight ahead. This time the project was a multi-chapter segment of the upcoming Domo manga, published by Tokyopop, scheduled for release sometime around September. For about two months, I've been working with my partner Lindsay Cibos to coordinate and color the comic.

To quote Lindsay:

"Since some sample pages have now been posted online, I guess I can show you what I've been working on. The Domo manga! That's right, comics involving that lovable brown monster guy with the big mouth.

Here's the link to some sample pages: www.tokyopop.com/Domomanga/tp_…
Note that the cover is by a different artist, but all the interior pages posted there are illustrated by Jared and I (lineart and lettering = me, colors = Jared).

We worked on two chapters for the book. According to Amazon (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1427…), the book should be coming out the mid-September, so keep an eye out for it!"

It's a celebration. With my new job there's no time left over to continue working on my speculative comic project. Instead of leaving it as a block of data in the fragmented confines of my hard drive, I've decided to post up and share some of the work that goes into making a comic pitch. Over the next couple of weeks I'll try to post an image a day from Shadow Walk. If you read Last Dance, Shadow Walk  is the sequel. It takes the dark romance from Last Dance and spins the story into an adventure.
